The Bhav and Issy Show
A podcast about the conversations we usually avoid

The Bhav & Issy Show

Conversations about the many things we live through but try to ignore: explored through two journeys, two cultural lenses, spiritual curiosity and that bit of strange humour that keeps us going.

The idea

What do we mean by the conversations that we usually avoid?

This is not only a podcast about the light fluffy stuff in life. It is about big transitions, endings, raw emotions and inspiring others to say the things that are kept inside of us... the words that live within change, grief, identity, relationships, illness, bodies, careers, belief systems and everything in between.

Outgrown selves, unconscious habits, and unspoken truths. We carry it all... and keep going anyway.

As hypnotherapists and practitioners, we spend our lives peering behind the psychological curtain. But this isn't clinical advice or polished self help. It’s an unvarnished look at the messy, chaotic stuff. Expect subconscious truths, sharp honesty, radical self compassion, and the occasional wildly inappropriate laugh when you least expect it.

Meet the hosts

The people carrying the conversation

By day, we navigate the deep, murky waters of the subconscious, soul work, and psychological shifts and by night, we're navigating our own brilliantly imperfect lives. Consider this your invitation to join two practitioners dropping the clinical posture, calling bullshit on perfection, and laughing through the deep conversations everyone else avoids.

CO-HOST · HYPNOTHERAPIST & TRAINEE PSYCHOTHERAPIST

Bhav - Founder of The Lila Room

Full time therapist, part time chaos consultant

I’m here for the messy bits of being human. Grief, identity, endings, becoming, and the things we’d rather avoid saying out loud.

My work as a therapist, alongside my own journey, has taught me that understanding ourselves is only half the story. The rest is learning how to actually live with what we find.

I bring curiosity, honesty and a fascination with what sits beneath the surface, with the belief that even the deepest conversations can leave room for a good laugh.

CO-HOST · HYPNOTHERAPIST & HOLISTIC THERAPIST

Issy - Founder of Held Ground

Excavating meaning in mess

I’m here for the heavy, chaotic, and aggressively unspoken. My path to working with the mind-body-soul connection started long before private practice. From managing primary school classrooms (which is basically extreme nervous system triage) to supporting the most marginalised teenagers in the criminal justice system. Those frontlines taught me that every defence mechanism, rebellion, or quiet withdrawal is simply a human being doing their absolute best to feel safe.

I run on trauma informed curiosity, dark humour, and an endless fascination with the subconscious & unconscious mind. For me, therapy and this podcast, isn't about pathologising your life or offering neat, toxic positivity cover ups. It’s about making room to laugh through the chaos, drop the performance, face the raw bits without feeling like you have to fix them immediately and finally unpack the weird little truths that have been hiding in our emotional junk drawers.

For listeners who

This might be for you if…

You’ve grieved the non-traditional stuff

Not just people, but lost timelines, former bodies, abandoned careers, and the alternate lives you left behind.

You're immune to toxic positivity

No neat self help bows or "just manifest it" fluff. Just two therapists dropping the professional poise for real talk in the carnage of being human.

You're done pretending you've got it figured out

You know that personal growth isn't a neat, linear line, and you're ready to embrace the awkward, unscripted reality of it all.

You use dark humour as a coping mechanism

Because when the existential abyss stares back at you, staring it down with a bit of a laugh is the only sensible response.
